OPELOUSAS CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARADE SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13TH

(OPELOUSAS, LA)- The 2012 Opelousas Children’s Christmas Parade, scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2012, will feature colorfully lit floats, high school marching bands, loveable cartoon characters and of course Santa Claus.

The parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the parking lot of St. Landry Catholic Church on North Main Street and will roll south through historic downtown Opelousas ending on Creswell Lane.

Full floats are priced at $550 while a half float is $275. Deadline to reserve a float is November 30,2012. To enter the parade, the fee is $25 for cars and trucks, $50 for truck/trailers and $75 for 18-wheeler type vehicles. There is no cost for walkers or bicycles.

Christmas music will be the only music allowed to be played for the event. Applications are available for those business and organizations wishing to participate in the annual event. For more information, contact Opelousas Museum & Interpretive Center at (337) 948-2589.
