Message from Mayor Alsandor Regarding Post Winter- Storm Water Repairs

February 24, 2021

Dear Opelousas Citizens.

The City of Opelousas is addressing numerous water leaks due to the impact of the recent winter storm.  The Public Works Department, which includes the Street and Water Department, is working diligently and as quickly as it can to address and repair these additional leaks that have developed after pipes were able to thaw out and temperatures went back to normal. One of the city’s priorities is to return the water system to its normal operations. We ask for your patience and understanding.

Water customers are still encouraged to report leaks to the Public Works at (337) 948-2555 or (337) 948-2520.  To report a leak after hours, call (337) 948-2555. Payments for water service can be paid  online or inside the Municipal Plaza, located at 105 North Main Street, from 8 am – 5 pm on Mondays thru Thursday and from 7 am – 11 am on Fridays. Payments can also be dropped in the after-hours box located in the front of the municipal Plaza building.

We thank everyone for your efforts to conserve water last week as well as thank everyone for their continued patience in this matter.

Regards,

Julius Alsandor
Mayor
