OPELOUSAS TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 29TH AT SOUTH CITY PARK
(Opelousas, LA) — The City of Opelousas will once again offer residents a ghostly good time this Halloween by hosting a fun and exciting Trick or Treat Trail. This family friendly event will be held along South City Park Walking Trail on Saturday, October 29, from 4 PM to 6 PM. The park is located at 1524 Market Street on Opelousas. Organized by Opelousas Tourism and Parks & Recreation Department, the event is free and open to the public and aims to provide the community with a fun alternative to traditional door to door trick-or-treating, keeping safety in mind.
Area businesses and organizations will set up along the trail will offer treats, goodies and activities to participants. Other activities planned include costumed characters, train rides, pop-up haunted houses and monster mash music. There is no cost for organizations to participate. The only requirement is to hand out treats to children that walk the trail. The event is designed for kids ages 12 and under.
Last year, in order to provide additional safety and social distancing, the Safe Halloween was moved from its prior location of Le Vieux Village to South City Park. The inaugural park event was a big success with over 30 businesses and organizations participating in the trail.
Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor and the City Council, along with Opelousas Police Department and the City Marshal’s office are dedicated to providing family-oriented events to residents by offering citizens a fun way to spend time in their community. The Trick or Treat Trail is also made possible with the support of many local businesses and organizations.
