City of Opelousas Boil Advisory: The City of Opelousas has issued a boil water advisory for all customers (South of Creswell Lane) served by the city’s water system. This advisory was issued in accordance with Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) requirements due to necessary repairs to the city’s water storage reservoir. While there has been no loss of water pressure, LDH regulations require a precautionary boil advisory any time work is performed on major components of the water system that could affect water quality. Residents are advised to boil all water for consumption — including water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or preparing food — for at least one full minute before use. The City’s water department is currently performing the required repairs, which are expected to be completed ASAP. Once the work is finished, water samples will be collected and tested to confirm that the water meets all state and federal safety standards. The boil advisory will remain in effect until LDH confirms that the water is safe for consumption. Updates and notifications regarding the status of the advisory will be provided through the City of Opelousas website at [www.cityofopelousas.com) The City of Opelousas appreciates the patience and understanding of all residents as we complete these essential repairs to ensure the continued safety and reliability of our water system.
