The Importance of Being Earnest is a story of two wealthy bachelors, John Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape the triviality of upper-class life. They fall for two eligible young heiresses—Cecily Cardew and Gwendolyn Fairfax—who, unfortunately for them, claim to only love men by the name of Ernest. What follows is a tale of deception, romance, and bizarre caricatures of Victorian extravagance.
