Hello Opelousas citizens,
With Hurricane Ida now having made landfall, now is time to be hunkered and settled down where you may be for the next 24-48 hours. As heavy wind and rain is predicted for our area, please check your areas near your homes for possible items that could become projectiles and/or for trash that may block drainages and prevent the flow of water.
Remember, even after the storm passes and subsides, it will not be the time to venture out to sight-see. Road conditions may become very hazardous and dangerous and power outages may occur. Emergency crews, first responders, law enforcement and repair crews will be on roadways to effectively assess the damages from the storm. Any unnecessary vehicles on the road will hinder that process.
Please stay HOME and off the roads. Be safe and smart as this storm will create some problems that will have to be addressed. All of this will take time so I thank you for your patience. We continue to pray that each of you are well and will remain in that manner.
Please stay tuned to the news stations and radio for updates as it pertains to Hurricane Ida.
