The City of Opelousas Tourism Department is delighted to announce that the Opelousas Children’s Christmas Parade, set to bring holiday cheer and sparkle to the city, will take place on Thursday, December 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The parade will begin at the eastern gateway of the city at Landry and Academy Streets near Le Vieux Village and proceed west through downtown Opelousas district and conclude at Landry and Bullard Streets.
As in previous years, the Children’s Christmas Parade will feature decorated floats, marching bands, school groups, dance teams, costumed characters and of course, Santa Claus!
Participation Details:
- Large Units (18-wheeler, motor home, party barge, etc.): $75
- Small Trailers: $50
- Cars or Pickups: $25
- Sponsored Decorated Lighted Floats: $800
There is no charge for participants walking or riding bicycles. Additional float sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and organizations wishing to support the event.
Parade entry forms must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2026. Forms may be dropped off or mailed to:

Opelousas Tourism is also seeking volunteers to assist with parade operations the evening of the event. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring a safe, organized, and festive experience for all participants.
