OPELOUSAS, LA — The City of Opelousas Public Works Department has completed the scheduled repairs to a major water main break on Heather Drive. Water service has been restored to the affected areas.
As a precautionary measure following the repairs and temporary interruption of water service, a Boil Water Advisory is now in effect for residents and businesses on the following streets until further notice:
Heather Drive
Starling Drive
Larkspur Drive
Cinnamon Drive
Sandalwood Drive
Hemlock Drive
Autumn Drive
Sandpiper Drive
Village Drive
Vista Drive
Herbert Drive
George Drive
Jake Drive
Hashim Drive
Jasmine Drive
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to boil all water intended for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and food preparation. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until water samples have been tested and cleared by the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). The City will notify residents once the advisory has been officially lifted.
The City of Opelousas appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and businesses during these necessary repairs. We also thank our Public Works crews and contractors for their efforts to restore water service as quickly and safely as possible.
