(Opelousas, LA) — Local families in Opelousas can safely celebrate Halloween this year. The City of Opelousas will continue to offer a safe and fun trick-or-treat experience with a Safe Halloween Drive-thru scheduled for Saturday, October 31, at the Opelousas Civic Center, from 4 pm – 6 pm. The civic center is located at 1638 Creswell Lane.
Families are asked to remain in their vehicles and wear a face covering as they receive candy and treats that will be pre-packaged in bags. Children are also encouraged to wear their costumes for the event. Safe Halloween Drive-thru at the Civic Center will provide a safe alternative for the children of Opelousas and surrounding areas to enjoy trick or treating. “This year it is even more important to celebrate Halloween safely,” said Mayor Alsandor. Our goal is to make sure children can enjoy Halloween without putting themselves or others at risk.”
Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor and the City Council are dedicated to providing family-oriented events to residents by offering citizens a fun way to spend time in their community. The Safe Halloween Drive-thru event is made possible with the support of local businesses and organizations. Event sponsors include the City of Opelousas, Opelousas Police Department, Opelousas Fire Department, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, Williams Progressive Life Insurance, Opelousas Kiwanis Club, Med Express Ambulance Service, CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline, Building Better Families, Louisiana National Guard and Team Martin Lemelle.
