(Opelousas, LA) — The City of Opelousas will once again offer children a spooktacular time this Halloween season by hosting a fun and exciting Trick or Treat Trail at South City Park. This family friendly event will take place Saturday, October 28, from 4 PM to 6 PM. Led by Opelousas Tourism and Opelousas Parks & Recreation, the event is free and open to the public and also aims to provide the community with a fun alternative to traditional door to door trick-or-treating, keeping safety in mind.Dozens of local businesses and organizations will set up along the walking trail at the park and offer treats, goodies and activities to kids. Other activities planned include train rides, photo opportunities and monster mash music. There is no cost for businesses or organizations to participate as one of the trail stops. The only requirement is to hand out treats to children that walk the trail. The event is designed for kids ages 12 and under.Last year, over 40 businesses and organizations participated in the trick or treat trail event. Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor and the City Council are dedicated to providing family-oriented events to residents by offering citizens a fun way to spend time in their community.
