Opelousas, LA (March 3, 2025) – Due to essential upgrades to the sewer system, the City of Opelousas has issued a boil water advisory for residents of Wilson Drive, Charles Avenue, and John Walton Street in the Park Vista neighborhood, effective immediately. The water service, which was temporarily suspended due to the ongoing Sewer System Upgrade Project, will be restored today.
Residents are advised to boil water prior to using it for drinking, cooking, or making ice until further notice. This precautionary measure is recommended to ensure the safety and health of our community members. The water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
The sewer system upgrade is part of a city-wide initiative to improve our infrastructure, which will require ongoing work in various parts of the city over the next few months. This project is crucial for enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our sewer services but may cause temporary inconveniences.
We understand the impact of these necessary upgrades and are committed to keeping disruptions to a minimum. Additional information regarding service disruptions and repairs will be provided as the project progresses. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about updates and advisories.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of all residents during this time.
