Opelousas, LA (February 10, 2025) – The City of Opelousas announces that the Heather Drive Bridge will be closed for total replacement beginning February 27, 2025.
The bridge closure is necessary to allow for the safe and efficient completion of the replacement project. During the closure, traffic will be detoured around the construction zone. Signage will be in place to guide motorists and inform them of alternate routes.
“We understand that this closure may cause inconvenience to some residents and commuters,” said Mayor Julius Alsandor. “However, this project is a crucial investment in our city’s infrastructure, and the new bridge will provide significant long-term benefits to our community.”
