Opelousas, LA (January 20, 2025) – The City of Opelousas has issued a boil advisory for Opelousas General Health System South Campus and Clos du Bois due to a water line puncture by a contractor working in the area. This advisory is in effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
The water line was damaged earlier today by a contractor performing work in the area. The damage resulted in a loss of water and water pressure for these specific locations. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to boil their water for one full minute before consuming it, using it for cooking, or brushing teeth.
The City of Opelousas Public Works Department is working diligently to repair the damaged line and restore full water service as quickly as possible. Water samples will be collected and tested to ensure water quality meets safety standards before the boil advisory is lifted.
Conserve Water:
The City of Opelousas reminds residents that it is strongly advising against dripping faucets during this period of extreme cold weather. Excessive dripping can deplete the water supply and lead to low water pressure or outages.
Updates:
Residents and businesses in the affected areas will be notified when the boil advisory is lifted. Updates will also be posted on the City of Opelousas’ official Facebook page and website.
