Opelousas, LA (January 19, 2025) – The City of Opelousas announces that all city offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, due to the anticipated winter storm. This closure is to ensure the safety of city employees and residents during potentially hazardous weather conditions.
Offices are anticipated to reopen on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, weather permitting. Residents are encouraged to monitor the city’s official Facebook page, Historic Opelousas, and website for updates on office closures and any changes in service schedules.
In addition to the winter storm closure, City of Opelousas offices will also be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Essential Services:
Essential city services, such as emergency response and public safety, will remain operational throughout the storm. Residents experiencing emergencies should call 911.
Warming Shelter:
St. Landry Parish Government has Warming Shelter at the former Indian Hills Country Club (1141 E Prudhomme Street) remains open for those needing a safe and warm place to stay during the storm. For assistance, please call (337) 948-3688.
