Amédé Ardoin Statue

May 12, 2021

A bronze life-size memorial statue of legendary Creole musician Amédé Ardoin is located on the grounds of the St. Landry Parish Visitors Center in Nuba, Louisiana.  The influences of Ardoin’s music can be heard in today’s zydeco and cajun music. Sculptor artist Russell Whiting of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana used a lone picture to create a 1,500-pound statue of Ardoin holding an accordion with one hand while holding a yellow lemon in his right hand. Ardoin often used lemons to sooth his throat.
