The City of Opelousas has issued an immediate boil water advisory for several areas due to a fire hydrant that was damaged in a car accident. The affected areas include:
- From Laurent Street going south including Mistroit Street and sections of East Truman Street.
- Ballard Lane, from Laurent Street to Jefferson Street.
- I-49 Service Road South from Laurent Street to Janice Street including Jackson Street and Janice Street.
The incident required the temporary shutdown of water service to these areas to facilitate urgent repairs to the damaged hydrant. The water service has been restored, but as a precaution, residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking, or other consumption.
Boil Water Advisory Details:
- Date Effective: Wednesday, April 23, 2025
- Boil water for at least one minute before use.
- The advisory remains in effect until further notice.
